Stephen Fry as Jeeves |
Some words of wisdom this hot and muggy June Monday from the pen of one of our favorite writers, P.G. Wodehouse,to the mouth of one of our favorite characters, Jeeves...
I would always hesitate to reccomend as a life's companion a young lady with quite such a vivid shade of red hair. Red hair, sir, in my opinion, is dangerous.
Hmm...Perhaps he has a point. Got any good redhead quotes? Send 'em on down we are waiting to add them to our collection.

Out of the ash
I rise with my red hair
And I eat men like air.
Sylvia Plath, from her poem, "Lady Lazarus"
I have a Victor record from the early 30s (or late 20s, can't remember which) wherein Rudy Vallee sings the "St. Louis Blues." Near the end of the song, he sings stanzas dealing with women, their hair color, and the effect said women can have on the hapless male. When he gets to redheads, he sings, "a red-headed woman makes a boy slap his papa down." I've always had a real weakness for readheads. Nuff said.
I've always been partial to the line from "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" that goes, "red hair and black leather, my favorite color scheme." Perhaps it should be our theme song...
